Shall I then go to my house, to eat and to drink and to lie with my wife? As you live, and as your soul lives, I will not do this thing.’” (Meditation) Chapter 11 begins like this: “In the spring of the year, the time when kings go out to battle” This means that winter had passed, spring had come, and the season for war had begun again. In the ancient world, wars were often fought in the spring, when the rains had stopped, the roads were dry, and supplies could be carried more easily. On the surface, that is the plain meaning of the verse. But between the lines, it also points to the place where a king ought to be—in other words, the place where David ought to have been. David was not in that place. He remained in the palace. There he saw the wife of Uriah the Hittite bathing, and in his desire he took her. Soon he heard the shocking news that she was pregnant. In order to cover his sin, David called Uriah back from the battlefield and tried to send him home. But Uriah did not go to his house. He slept at the entrance of the king’s house. Today’s one-verse meditation is Uriah’s answer to David’s question, “Why have you not gone down to your house?” “The ark and Israel and Judah dwell in booths, and my lord Joab and the servants of my lord are camping in the open field.” Verse 11 stands in exact contrast to verse 1. Unlike David, Uriah knew where he was supposed to be. He was not even an Israelite, but a Hittite. Yet he feared the Lord, loved Israel, and remained in his place. This scene speaks powerfully to us as well. To remain where we are meant to be—that is true faith. Jesus is the one who kept that place perfectly. The first Adam left it, but the second Adam, our Lord, kept it to the very end. Therefore, to rely on Christ Jesus alone and to hold fast only to his better righteousness—that is the place where every believer is meant to stand. (Prayer) Lord, let me not forget that the only way to overcome countless temptations is to remain where I am meant to be. Grant that today I may keep that place, fixing my eyes only on Christ Jesus. ]]> Fri, 11 Sep 2026 08:18:00 +0000 <![CDATA[Thursday, September 10, 2026 | 2 Samuel 10:4–11:1]]> [One-Verse Meditation] 2 Samuel 10:12 (ESV) “Be of good courage, and let us be courageous for our people, and for the cities of our God, and may the Lord do what seems good to him.” (Meditation) As Joab fights against the Ammonites and the Syrians who have risen up against Israel, he divides the army into two groups to face them. He takes command of one, and entrusts the other to his brother Abishai. And in the very midst of battle he says, “Be of good courage, and let us be courageous for our people, and for the cities of our God.” Joab clearly knows why the army of Israel must be courageous. They are not fighting merely for their own lives or their own honor, but for the people of God and the cities of God. So Joab’s courage is not vague self-confidence. His strength does not come from trusting in his own ability, but from knowing who they are. The reason for their courage is this: they are God’s people, and God has made them His own. This is where the believer’s courage begins as well. We are not courageous because we are strong, but because we belong to God. Joab then goes on to say, “May the Lord do what seems good to him.” In these words, we see the faith of God’s people clearly displayed. Joab does not avoid the battle he must fight, yet he does not place the outcome in his own hands. Instead, he entrusts the result to the goodness of the Lord. Hidden within this brief confession is the believer’s faith that God is good, and that in His goodness He never turns away from His people. This word shows us the same path today. The believer’s life is not courageous because it can guarantee the outcome, but because the God who has made us His people is good. That is why we can remain at the place entrusted to us without running away. Even if that place is still a battlefield, the goodness and faithfulness of God are with us. Those who know that God will do what seems good to Him take their next step today with faith and courage. (Prayer) Lord, let my courage not come from myself, but from the grace by which You have made me Your own people. Entrusting this day to Your good will, I step into this new day by faith. Amen. ____________________________________ (Daily Meditation) 2 Samuel 10:4–11:1]]> Fri, 11 Sep 2026 08:17:09 +0000 <![CDATA[2026년 9월 11일, 금요일 | 사무엘하 11:2-20]]> [한 절 묵상] 사무엘하 11:11 “11 우리아가 다윗에게 아뢰되 언약궤와 이스라엘과 유다가 야영 중에 있고 내 주 요압과 내 왕의 부하들이 바깥 들에 진 치고 있거늘 내가 어찌 내 집으로 가서 먹고 마시고 내 처와 같이 자리이까 내가 이 일을 행하지 아니하기로 왕의 살아 계심과 왕의 혼의 살아 계심을 두고 맹세하나이다 하니라" (묵상) 11장은 이렇게 시작합니다. “그 해가 돌아와 왕들이 출전할 때가 되매” 이 말은 겨울이 지나고 봄이 되어, 전쟁을 다시 시작하는 계절이 되었다는 의미입니다. 고대에는 비가 그쳐 길이 마르고 군량 조달이 쉬운 봄에 전쟁을 많이 했습니다. 그러니까 그 전쟁의 때가 된 것이지요. 이 구절은 표면적으로 이런 실제적인 의미를 담고 있습니다. 그러나 행간으로는 왕이 있어야 할 자리, 다시 말해 다윗이 있어야 할 자리를 의미하지요. 다윗은 있어야 할 그 자리에 있지 않고 왕궁에 머물러 있었습니다. 그리고 그 자리에서 목욕하는 헷 사람 우리아의 아내를 보고, 욕망을 따라 그녀를 범하지요. 이어 청천벽력 같은 소식을 듣습니다. 우리아의 아내가 임신을 했다는 것입니다. 다윗은 자신의 범죄를 덮기 위해 전장에 있던 우리아를 불러들이고, 그를 자기 집으로 보내려 합니다. 그러나 우리아는 자기 집으로 가지 않고 왕궁 문에서 잠을 잡니다. 오늘 한 절 묵상 구절은 “어찌하여 네 집으로 내려가지 아니하였느냐?”라는 다윗의 질문에 대한 우리아의 답입니다. “언약궤와 이스라엘과 유다가 야영 중에 있고, 내 주 요압과 내 왕의 부하들이 바깥 들에 진 치고 있거늘” 이 11절은 앞서 살펴본 1절과 정확히 대조되는 구절입니다. 다윗과 달리 우리아는 자신이 있어야 할 자리를 알고 있었습니다. 그는 이스라엘 사람이 아닌 헷 사람이었지만, 여호와 하나님을 경외하며 이스라엘을 사랑했습니다. 그리고 끝내 자기 자리를 지켰지요. 이 장면은 우리에게도 의미 있게 다가옵니다. 있어야 할 자리에 있는 것, 그것이 참된 신앙임을 알려 주지요. 예수님은 바로 그 자리를 끝까지 지키신 분이십니다. 첫 사람 아담이 떠난 그 자리를, 두 번째 아담이신 주님은 끝내 지키셨습니다. 그러므로 오직 그리스도 예수만을 의지하며, 그분의 더 나은 의만을 붙드는 것, 그것이 성도가 있어야 할 자리입니다. ]]> Fri, 11 Sep 2026 08:16:13 +0000 <![CDATA[2026년 9월 10일, 목요일 | 사무엘하 10:4-11:1]]> [한 절 묵상] 사무엘하 10:12 “너는 담대하라 우리가 우리 백성과 우리 하나님의 성읍들을 위하여 담대히 하자 여호와께서 선히 여기시는 대로 행하시기를 원하노라 하고” (묵상) 이스라엘을 대적하는 암몬 사람들과 아람 사람들을 상대로 싸우는 요압은 군사를 둘로 나누어 이들에 맞섭니다. 한 편은 자기가 맡고, 다른 한 편은 동생 아비새에게 맡기지요. 그리고 전쟁 한복판에서 이렇게 말합니다. “너는 담대하라 우리가 우리 백성과 우리 하나님의 성읍들을 위하여 담대히 하자.” 요압은 이스라엘 군사들이 왜 담대해야 하는지를 분명히 압니다. 그들이 지키는 것은 단지 자기 생명이나 자기 명예가 아니라, 하나님의 백성과 하나님의 성읍들이기 때문이지요. 그러니까 요압의 담대함은 막연한 자신감이 아닙니다. 그의 용기는 자기 능력을 믿는 데서 나오지 않고, 우리가 누구인가를 아는 데서 나옵니다. 우리가 하나님의 백성이라는 사실, 그리고 하나님께서 우리를 당신의 것으로 삼으셨다는 사실이 그 담대함의 이유이지요. 성도의 담대함도 여기에서 시작됩니다. 내가 강해서가 아니라, 내가 하나님의 백성이기 때문에 담대할 수 있는 것입니다. 요압은 이어서 말합니다. “여호와께서 선히 여기시는 대로 행하시기를 원하노라.” 이 말에는 성도의 믿음이 고스란히 담겨 있습니다. 요압은 자기가 해야 할 싸움을 피하지 않으면서도, 그 결과를 자기 손에 두지 않습니다. 오히려 모든 결과를 여호와의 선하심에 맡기지요. 하나님은 선하신 분이시고, 그 선하심 안에서 자기 백성을 결코 외면하지 않으신다는 믿음이 이 짧은 고백 안에 담겨 있네요. 이 말씀은 오늘 우리에게도 같은 길을 보여 줍니다. 성도의 삶은 결과를 장담할 수 있어서 담대한 삶이 아니라, 우리를 자기 백성 삼으신 하나님이 선하시기에 담대한 삶입니다. 그래서 우리는 맡겨진 자리에서 피하지 않고 서 있을 수 있지요. 그 자리가 여전히 전쟁터일지라도, 하나님의 선하심과 신실하심이 우리와 함께 하시기 때문입니다. 그렇게 하나님께서 선히 여기시는 대로 행하실 것을 아는 사람은 오늘도 믿음과 담대함으로 한 걸음을 내딛습니다. ]]> Fri, 11 Sep 2026 08:15:19 +0000 <![CDATA[Wednesday, September 9, 2026 | 2 Samuel 9:1–10:3]]> [One-Verse Meditation] 2 Samuel 9:3 (ESV) “And the king said, ‘Is there not still someone of the house of Saul, that I may show the kindness of God to him?’ Ziba said to the king, ‘There is still a son of Jonathan; he is crippled in his feet.’” (Meditation) David inquires after Jonathan’s household. If there is anyone still alive, he says that he wants to show that person the kindness of God. Of course, we could read this simply as an expression of David’s good character. We might say that David was naturally a kind man. But what Scripture wants to show us is not merely David’s kind heart itself, but the motive and source behind it. David does not describe the kindness he shows to Jonathan’s son Mephibosheth as something that comes from himself. He calls it “the kindness of God.” And he makes clear that the starting point of this kindness is “for Jonathan’s sake.” Long before this, Jonathan, who shared with David a love for God and for Israel, had asked him, “Do not cut off your steadfast love from my house forever.” In this passage, David keeps that promise. And Scripture calls that act the kindness of God. That means even our good intentions have their source in God. It means that God has held all those years in His hands, has kept that promise from being forgotten, and has brought it to fulfillment. Jonathan’s son Mephibosheth is the one who receives that kindness of God. He has all the land of his household restored to him, and he is welcomed into fellowship at the king’s table. Yet none of this came to him because of anything in himself. It was the result of the promise between Jonathan and David, who loved one another like brothers. And over all of it rested the grace of God. So it is with our lives as well. Our lives are the fulfillment of the covenant that God established before the foundation of the world and has faithfully kept. The life of life we enjoy in Christ Jesus is the kindness of God. Just as Mephibosheth received it freely, so we too live this life with no merit of our own. Day by day we are invited to the King’s table and given fellowship with the Lord. What amazing grace this is. Those who live today by this grace are the saints. (Prayer) Lord, I praise You, for You are the God who is faithful to Your promises. By that grace, even today, I live the life You have given. Knowing that Your kindness rests upon each step I take, help me walk into this new day with joy and thanksgiving. Amen. ____________________ (Daily Meditation) 2 Samuel 9:1–10:3]]> Wed, 09 Sep 2026 07:27:15 +0000 <![CDATA[2026년 9월 9일, 수요일 | 사무엘하 9:1-10:3]]> [한 절 묵상] 사무엘하 9:3 “왕이 이르되 사울의 집에 아직도 남은 사람이 없느냐 내가 그 사람에게 하나님의 은총을 베풀고자 하노라 하니 시바가 왕께 아뢰되 요나단의 아들 하나가 있는데 다리를 절더이다” (묵상) 다윗은 요나단의 집을 살핍니다. 혹시라도 살아 있는 자가 있다면 그 사람에게 하나님의 은총을 베풀겠다고 하지요. 물론 우리는 다윗의 이 마음을 그의 선한 성품으로 읽을 수도 있습니다. 다윗이 원래 천성적으로 선한 사람이었다고 말이지요. 그러나 성경이 우리에게 보여 주고자 하는 것은 다윗의 선한 마음 자체보다, 그 선한 마음의 동기와 근원입니다. 다윗은 요나단의 아들 므비보셋에게 베푸는 은총을 자기 자신의 것으로 말하지 않고, “하나님의 은총”이라고 말합니다. 그리고 그 은총의 출발점을 “요나단으로 말미암아”라고 밝히지요. 다윗과 더불어 하나님과 이스라엘을 사랑하는 마음을 나누었던 요나단은 오래전 다윗에게 부탁했습니다. “네 인자를 내 집에서 영원히 끊어 버리지 말라.” 이 약속을 다윗은 본문과 같이 지킵니다. 성경은 그 일을 두고 하나님의 은총이라고 말합니다. 그러니까 우리의 선한 마음도 하나님께 원인이 있는 것입니다. 하나님께서 그 모든 시간을 붙드시고, 그 약속을 잊지 않게 하시며, 마침내 이루어 내셨다는 뜻이지요. 요나단의 아들 므비보셋은 바로 그 하나님의 은총을 누립니다. 그는 그의 집안의 모든 땅을 돌려받고, 왕의 식탁에서 교제를 누립니다. 그러나 이 모든 누림은 그의 어떠함으로 얻어진 것이 아닙니다. 형제와 같았던 요나단과 다윗의 약속의 결과이지요. 그리고 그 모든 시간 위에 하나님의 은혜가 있었습니다. 우리의 삶도 그렇습니다. 창세 전에 세우신 하나님의 언약을 하나님께서 신실하게 이루어 내신 성취가 바로 저와 여러분의 삶입니다. 그리스도 예수 안에서 누리는 생명의 삶이 곧 하나님의 은총이지요. 므비보셋이 값없이 누렸듯이 우리도 그렇게 공로없이 생명의 삶을 삽니다. 날마다 왕의 식탁에 초대되어 주님과 교제를 누리지요. 이것이 얼마나 큰 은혜인지요. 이 은혜로 오늘을 사는 자들이 성도입니다. ]]> Wed, 09 Sep 2026 07:26:10 +0000 <![CDATA[Tuesday, September 8, 2026 | 2 Samuel 8:9–18]]> [One-Verse Meditation] 2 Samuel 8:15 (ESV) “So David reigned over all Israel. And David administered justice and equity to all his people.” (Meditation) If we were to sum up this short passage (2 Sam. 8:9–18) in a single phrase, it would be David’s unbroken success. Various surrounding nations bow before David, and his name becomes widely renowned. Scripture gives the reason in these words: “The Lord gave victory to David wherever he went” (8:14b). We can easily misunderstand this verse. We may take it to mean that a person of faith, like David, will succeed wherever he goes and prosper in whatever he does. So when we see believers whose lives are not going well, or who seem confused and unsettled, we are quick to judge their faith—if only in our hearts. But that is not what this means. If we read it that way, then Paul, Peter, and John would all have to be counted as people of little faith. After all, from the world’s point of view, none of them appeared especially successful or fortunate. So verse 14 shows us that the believer’s life is a life in which the Lord is present, and therefore a life that is victorious because of Him. Even if my situation and circumstances do not change, my life is still a victorious life. Why? Because in that very same place I am no longer held by death, but live in the fullness of life. How is that possible? Because I trust in the goodness and righteousness of God. And so, in verse 15, the lines beneath the statement that David ruled Israel with justice and equity point us to this deeper meaning: the goodness and righteousness of God were being made visible. This passage gives us hope. Wherever we are, and whatever circumstances we may be facing, God is with us, bringing about His goodness and righteousness in our lives. That is why we can rejoice and be glad. For there is no greater good and no greater justice than this: that the good and righteous God is with me. (Prayer) Lord, I believe that my whole life is the place where Your goodness and righteousness are being accomplished. And so I am filled with wonder, and also with holy fear. This is the response of one who stands before You—reverence. It is grace. Let me walk this beautiful new day in the joy of that grace. Amen. ______________________ (Daily Meditation) 2 Samuel 8:9–18]]> Tue, 08 Sep 2026 07:33:38 +0000 <![CDATA[2026년 9월 8일 화요일 | 사무엘하 8:9-18]]> [한 절 묵상] 사무엘하 8:15 “다윗이 온 이스라엘을 다스려 모든 백성에게 정의와 공의를 행할새” (묵상) 이 짧은 본문(삼하 8:9-18)을 한 마디로 요약하면, 다윗의 승승장구입니다. 주변의 여러 민족들이 다윗 앞에 무릎을 꿇고, 다윗은 큰 명성을 떨칩니다. 성경은 그 원인을 이렇게 기록하지요. “다윗이 어디로 가든지 여호와께서 이기게 하셨더라(8:14b).” 우리는 이 구절을 오해하기도 합니다. 다윗과 같이 믿음 있는 사람은 어디를 가든지 승리하고, 무엇을 하든지 잘 된다고 해석하지요. 그래서 일이 안 풀리거나 우왕좌왕하는 신자들을 보면 대번에 그들의 믿음을 질책합니다. 물론 마음속으로요. 그러나 그렇지가 않습니다. 만약 그렇게 해석한다면, 바울도, 베드로도, 요한도 모두 믿음 없는 사람이 되고 말지요. 세상 사람들의 눈으로 보면, 그들은 결코 형통한 사람들처럼 보이지 않았으니까요. 따라서 14절은 성도의 삶이 여호와께서 함께하시는 삶이며, 그래서 그분으로 인해 승리하는 삶임을 보여 줍니다. 나의 상황과 형편은 달라지지 않았을지라도, 내 삶은 여전히 승리의 삶이라는 뜻이지요. 왜냐하면 같은 자리에서도 더 이상 사망에 붙들린 자가 아니라 생명을 누리는 자로 살기 때문입니다. 어떻게 그럴 수 있을까요? 하나님의 선하심과 의로우심을 믿기 때문입니다. 그러므로 15절에서 다윗이 정의와 공의로 이스라엘을 다스렸다는 말의 행간은 하나님의 선하심과 의로우심이 드러났다는 의미이지요. 본문은 우리에게 소망을 선물합니다. 우리가 어디에 있든지, 또 어떤 형편 가운데 있든지, 하나님은 우리와 함께하시며 우리 삶 가운데 당신의 선하심과 의로우심을 이루어 가십니다. 바로 그 때문에 우리는 기뻐하고 즐거워할 수 있지요. 선하고 의로우신 하나님이 나와 함께하심, 그것보다 더 큰 선도, 더 큰 공의도 없기 때문입니다. ]]> Tue, 08 Sep 2026 07:32:32 +0000 <![CDATA[Monday, September 7, 2026 | 2 Samuel 7:22–8:8]]> [One-Verse Meditation] 2 Samuel 7:24, ESV “And you established for yourself your people Israel to be your people forever. And you, O Lord, became their God.” (Meditation) After receiving God’s promise that He would establish his house forever, David praises the Lord. This song of praise, which begins with the confession that “there is none like you, and there is no God besides you,” goes on to celebrate how Israel came to be Israel. David does not trace Israel’s beginning back to the people themselves. He remembers that God brought them out of Egypt, led them through the wilderness, and has brought them to this very place. In a word, Israel is the result of God’s work. So David confesses, “You established for yourself your people Israel to be your people forever.” This means that Israel’s identity and foundation do not rest in themselves, but in God. They are God’s people because He first chose them, called them out, and made them His own. David is resting not on what Israel is in itself, but on God’s sovereign purpose and grace. This word also makes us look again at the ground of our own faith. We are often tempted to look for the basis of faith in ourselves. We look first at how well we are holding up, how steady we are, or how tightly we are holding on to the Lord. But David’s praise says the opposite. The people of God are not those who prove themselves by their own strength, but those whom God holds as His own. As Revelation shows us, God’s people are those who are sealed and marked with His name on their foreheads (Rev. 7:3–4; 14:1). Because they bear His name, God will never abandon them. Therefore, our faith is not a faith that has its cause in us, but a faith that has its cause in God. The believer’s faith is not the exhausting effort to hold oneself together, but the freedom of resting in the God who holds fast to His people to the very end. And it is there that a life of gratitude and joy begins. (Prayer) Lord, keep me from looking for the source of my faith in myself, and help me see Your grace, which has called me, held me fast, and is still building me up. Today, as one who bears Your name, let me live with gratitude and joy. ________________________ (Daily Meditation) 2 Samuel 7:22–8:8]]> Mon, 07 Sep 2026 07:41:28 +0000 <![CDATA[2026년 9월 7일 월요일 | 사무엘하 7:22-8:8]]> [한 절 묵상] 사무엘하 7:24 “주께서 주의 백성 이스라엘을 세우사 영원히 주의 백성으로 삼으셨사오니 여호와여 주께서 그들의 하나님이 되셨나이다” (묵상) 하나님께서 그의 집을 영원히 견고하게 하시겠다는 약속을 받은 다윗은 하나님을 찬양합니다. “주와 같은 이가 없고 주 외에는 신이 없다”고 고백하는 이 찬양은 곧 이스라엘이 이스라엘 된 일을 노래하지요. 다윗은 이스라엘의 시작을 그들 자신에게서 찾지 않습니다. 하나님께서 그들을 애굽에서 불러 내셨고, 광야에서 인도하셨으며, 마침내 지금 이 자리까지 이르게 하셨음을 기억합니다. 한 마디로 이스라엘은 하나님의 일하심의 결과라는 것입니다. 그래서 다윗은 “주께서 주의 백성 이스라엘을 세우사 영원히 주의 백성으로 삼으셨다”고 고백합니다. 이 말은 이스라엘의 정체성과 근거가 그들 자신에게 있지 않고 하나님께 있다는 뜻입니다. 그들이 하나님의 백성인 이유는 하나님께서 먼저 그들을 택하시고, 불러내시고, 자기 백성으로 삼으셨기 때문이지요. 다윗은 이스라엘의 어떠함보다 하나님의 작정과 은혜를 기대고 있는 것입니다. 이 말씀은 우리의 믿음의 자리도 다시 보게 합니다. 우리는 자주 믿음의 근거를 우리 자신에게서 찾습니다. 내가 얼마나 잘 버티는지, 얼마나 흔들리지 않는지, 얼마나 주님을 붙들고 있는지를 먼저 보게 되지요. 그러나 다윗의 찬양은 정반대를 말합니다. 하나님의 백성은 자기 힘으로 자신을 증명하는 자들이 아니라, 하나님께서 자기 것으로 붙드신 자들이니까요. 요한계시록이 보여 주듯이, 하나님의 백성은 이마에 하나님의 이름이 새겨지고 인침 받은 자들입니다(계 7:3-4; 14:1). 하나님의 이름이 새겨진 백성이기에, 하나님은 결코 그들을 포기하지 않으십니다. 그러므로 우리의 믿음은 우리에게 원인이 있는 믿음이 아니라, 하나님께 원인이 있는 믿음입니다. 성도의 믿음은 자신을 붙들어 세우려는 애씀보다, 자기 백성을 끝까지 붙드시는 하나님 안에서 누리는 자유입니다. 바로 그 자리에서 감사와 기쁨의 걸음이 시작되지요. ]]> Fri, 04 Sep 2026 10:02:02 +0000 <![CDATA[Friday, September 4, 2026 | 2 Samuel 7:1–19]]> [One-Verse Meditation] 2 Samuel 7:19 “And yet this was a small thing in your eyes, O Lord God. You have spoken also of your servant’s house for a great while to come, and this is instruction for mankind, O Lord God!” (Meditation) David wanted to build a house for God. As he considered his own life in a royal palace while the ark of God remained in a tent, he felt that he ought to do something for the Lord. But God answered David with a purpose far greater than David’s own thoughts. Rather than allowing David to build a house for Him, God promised that He Himself would build a house for David. What always comes before David’s zeal is God’s grace, and what stands before human plans is God’s covenant. That is why David says, “This is instruction for mankind.” This is not merely a cry of amazement. It is David’s humility, undone by the gracious promise God had made toward His people. God is not simply exalting one man, David; He is the One who establishes His gracious promise for His people. David seems to be hearing a word about his own house, but in truth, he is beholding the vast and deep heart of God for His people and standing in awe. This word shows us the same truth. We often think we must do something for God, and in our zeal we try to build a house for Him. But that is not where faith begins. Every step of faith begins with the grace of God. God calls His people, holds them fast, leads them by His promise, and in the end makes them His own. Therefore, our hope does not rest in our will or our ability, but in God’s faithful zeal for His people. In the end, the house God is building is His people—us. We are not those who build ourselves up, but a house being built by the hand of God. And because this house is being built in Christ Jesus, it will never be shaken. Even when the circumstances of life shake, and even when our hearts tremble, the house God builds does not fall. Even today, He is completing us as His house. (Prayer) Lord, help me lay down the zeal that tries to run ahead of You, and open my eyes to see Your hand already at work in grace. Help me trust the grace by which You have called me as Your own and are building me into an unshakable house in Christ Jesus. Today again, let my life stand not on my own strength, but on Your promise and Your faithfulness. Amen. ________________ (Daily Meditation)

]]> Fri, 04 Sep 2026 07:41:15 +0000 <![CDATA[2026년 9월 4일 금요일 | 사무엘하 7:1-19]]> [한 절 묵상] 사무엘하 7:19 “주 여호와여 주께서 이것을 오히려 적게 여기시고 또 종의 집에 있을 먼 장래의 일까지도 말씀하셨나이다 주 여호와여 이것이 사람의 법이니이다” (묵상) 다윗은 하나님을 위해 집을 지어 드리려 했습니다. 왕궁에 거하는 자신과 장막 가운데 있는 하나님의 궤를 생각하며, 하나님을 위해 무엇인가를 해 드려야 한다고 여겼던 것이지요. 그러나 하나님은 다윗의 생각보다 더 크신 뜻으로 응답하십니다. 하나님은 다윗이 하나님을 위해 집을 짓는 것이 아니라, 오히려 당신이 다윗을 위해 집을 건축하겠다고 약속하십니다. 다윗의 열심보다 앞서는 것은 언제나 하나님의 은혜이며, 사람의 계획보다 먼저 있는 것은 하나님의 언약입니다. 그래서 다윗은 “이것이 사람의 법이니이다”라고 고백하지요. 이 고백은 단순한 감탄이 아닙니다. 하나님의 백성을 향하신 은혜의 약속 앞에서 무너지는 다윗의 겸손이지요. 하나님은 한 사람 다윗만 높이시는 분이 아니라, 그 백성을 향해 은혜의 약속을 세우시는 분이십니다. 다윗은 자기 집에 대한 말씀을 듣고 있는 것 같지만, 실상은 하나님의 백성을 향하신 크고 깊은 마음을 보고 놀라고 있는 것입니다. 이 말씀은 우리에게도 같은 진리를 보여 주지요. 우리는 하나님을 위해 무엇인가를 해야 한다고 생각하며, 우리의 열심으로 하나님의 집을 세우려 합니다. 그러나 그런 것이 아닙니다. 신앙의 걸음은 언제나 하나님의 은혜입니다. 하나님은 자기 백성을 부르시고, 붙드시고, 약속으로 인도하시며, 끝내 자기의 것으로 세워 가십니다. 그러므로 우리의 소망은 우리의 의지나 능력에 있지 않고, 자기 백성을 향한 하나님의 신실하신 열심에 있습니다. 결국 하나님께서 지으시는 집은 그분의 백성인 우리입니다. 우리는 스스로를 세우는 사람들이 아니라, 하나님의 손에 의해 지어져 가는 집이지요. 그리고 그 집은 그리스도 예수 안에서 세워지는 집이기에 결코 흔들리지 않습니다. 세상의 형편이 흔들리고 우리의 마음이 흔들릴 때에도, 하나님께서 세우시는 집은 무너지지 않지요. 오늘도 하나님은 그렇게 우리를 당신의 집으로 완성해 가십니다. ]]> Fri, 04 Sep 2026 07:40:18 +0000 <![CDATA[Thursday, September 3, 2026 | 2 Samuel 6:6–23]]> [One-Verse Meditation] (2 Samuel 6:14) ESV “And David danced before the LORD with all his might. And David was wearing a linen ephod.” (Meditation) When we read the story of Uzzah, it immediately troubles us. Uzzah’s intention seems clearly good, since he reached out because the ark of the covenant seemed about to fall. So it is easy for us to ask, “Wasn’t God being too harsh?” Yet later David reflects on this event and confesses that the LORD struck them down “because we did not seek him according to the rule” (1 Chron. 15:13). The problem was not merely Uzzah’s impulsive act, but that David and Israel were trying to handle the holy God according to human judgment and human methods. This event reveals that God is not confined within our good intentions; rather, he is the One who sets us rightly before his holiness. Only after learning God’s holiness does David dance before the LORD with all his might. This dance is an expression of joy from one who has come to know who God truly is. After the incident with Uzzah, David’s struggle was the fear of asking, “How can I stand before this holy God?” But God did not leave him in that fear. By his word, he exposed what was wrong and set David back within his own way, finally leading him into a place of rejoicing before the LORD. David’s dancing, then, is not carelessness; it is the praise of one who has come to know the holiness and beauty of God. This word also exposes us. Just as we judge God when we look at Uzzah’s apparently good intention, we also tend to measure everything that happens in life by our own standards of goodness and rightness. We ask, “Isn’t this acceptable?” “Why would this happen?” “Isn’t God being too harsh?” But our goodness and God’s goodness cannot be placed on the same scale. God is not one who can be explained by our standards. Rather, he is the One who shatters those standards and teaches us what it means that he is truly God. Therefore, this word first calls us to lay down our own judgments and self-made standards. But God does not leave us there. Just as he did with David and Israel, the Lord also makes himself known to us through his word and finally leads us into a place where we rejoice in him and praise him. This is the purpose for which God chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world (Eph. 1:4–6). So the end of this word is not fear or forced resolve, but praise. Through all that takes place in our lives, God teaches us his Godness, and in doing so he makes us sing, rejoice in him, and delight in him. This is grace. (Prayer) Lord, it is grace that Your thoughts are not like ours. Our thoughts change so easily and so often. Because Your unchanging thoughts uphold us, we are always and everywhere safe.
